Where’s the Best Place to Grab a Beer in Skagway?

When people arrive in Skagway on an Alaskan cruise, they walk off of their cruise ship early in the morning and step off of the dock. The first building they see is the M&M Tours booth, so they walk inside and have a peek at all of the marvelous local tour offerings. After a few minutes of browsing, they often walk up the desk and ask the tour salesperson, “Where’s the Best Place to Grab a Beer in Skagway?”

It’s good to have priorities and when you’re on vacation, so you need to plan ahead. The smartest travelers know that at some point during the day, they’re going to want a beer. That’s why they ask the locals where they should go to enjoy a frosty brew. Well, buddy, I have the answer you’re looking for. 

Beer is great

I think we can all agree that beer is wonderful. It’s frosty, smooth, and tastes like the heaven itself. After drinking two or three beers, you also start feeling pretty good. There is a reason why people are already thinking about beer at 6:30 in the morning and it’s because beer is great. I just wanted to say that.

So where’s the best place to grab a beer in Skagway?

We’ve already determined that beer is great so it really doesn’t matter where you drink a beer as long as you eventually have one in each hand. I am going to list all of the places you can grab a beer in Skagway and then you can decide where you would like to visit. Heck, why not visit every one of the places on the list and get the most out of your vacation? Now, there’s a great idea!

Klondike Brewery – This is a great place to grab a beer in Skagway. They are located on 2nd Avenue and they brew their own beer. How can you lose? You can sit outside and drink your cold beer while enjoying the amazing Skagway view. Make it happen!

Skagway Brewing Company – This a brewery and restaurant. Why not gobble up some chicken wings while you enjoy a fresh-brewed beer? Toss back a frosty cold one with some tater tots and a burger. After all, this is America!

The Red Onion Saloon – This is a bar, restaurant, and brothel. What more do you need? Keep in mind that the brothel is no longer active because we have laws around here. Fortunately, there is no law against drinking beer so toss back a cold one and enjoy the scenic view of the twin Dewey peeks. 

Happy Endings Saloon – With a name like Happy Endings, you know you’re going to have a good time. Right next door is the Morning Wood Hotel because Skagway business owners are funny. Drink beer and laugh a little. That’s what life is all about.

The Skagway Fish Co.  – This restaurant serves beer so it’s on the list. I like the outside deck almost as much as I like beer. 

Skagway Elks Lodge #431 – If you’re an Elks member, you can have a beer at this bar. If you’re not a member, too bad – no beer for you.

Starfire – This is a Thai restaurant. I love their food. They also serve beer so it counts. 

There are some other places but I can’t think of them right now. Maybe I drank too much beer. Ha! Not possible.
