The best thing about cruises to Alaska
Cruising is fun. Cruising to Alaska is even more fun than that. Why? Because there are so many great things to do in Alaska! In fact, there are so many great things about cruises to Alaska that it’s hard to nail down the best thing. Today we are going to review some of the great things about cruises to Alaska and pick the best thing because why not?
Cruises to Alaska are on a large boat
Cruising requires a large boat. When you cruise to Alaska, you stop in some cool places but you also spend a lot of time on that boat. Is the best part about Alaska actually seeing Alaska or doing fun things on the boat? I don’t know. I guess it depends on what you like to do. Personally, I like to sit in a hot tub and drink margaritas, so I’m perfectly happy staying on the boat.
When I went on my cruise to Alaska, everyone was standing on the deck looking at the glacier and I was lounging in the hot tub drinking a margarita all by myself. My girlfriend wasn’t having it. She walked over and said, “Are you just going to sit in the hot tub and drink margaritas by yourself instead of looking at the glacier?” I said, “Yup!”
Nature is a cool thing about cruises to Alaska
Many people come to Alaska to see nature. There isn’t nearly as much nature anywhere else. If you love nature, Alaska has all sorts of things you will like. There are trees, marmots, and ducks. There are mosquitoes, salmon, and flowers. That’s some serious nature.
History is a big deal on cruises to Alaska
Alaska is very historic. There isn’t a lot to do in Alaska, so everyone takes time to read about Alaskan history. You can ask anyone on the street about local Alaska history and they will know all about it. Try that in Florida! History is interesting because it happened a long time ago. Current events aren’t nearly as interesting, and you go on vacation to get away from that anyway!
Eating and drinking is a fun thing to do on cruises to Alaska
Alaska has some good food. You can eat king crab like a boss. You can also eat fresh salmon and halibut. That’s some good food. You need those Omega 3s! Drinking is the most popular hobby in Alaska. The locals like drinking beer and booze and wine and anything else they can get their hands on. Real Alaskans don’t drink in bars. They drink in saloons. If you want to meet the locals, head to the saloon.
Every bar and saloon in Alaska is equipped with a welcome bell. In the old days, when you walked into a saloon, the owner was likely out back chopping wood. To get their attention, the patron would ring the bell as loud as possible. Today, it is still a proud Alaskan tradition for new visitors to ring the welcome bell! Be sure to walk right up to the welcome bell and give it a big ring. Heck, do it two or three times! We Alaskans love that bell!
So what’s the best thing about cruises to Alaska? I’m going with local Alaskan people. We are pretty great.
