Is there anything more fun than suspending yourself from a cable and quickly flying from one treetop to the next, while experiencing the weightless joy of avian flight? Probably not, which is why you should check out Grizzly Falls Zipline, this week’s Skagway Tours spotlight.

Ziplining is fun, but Grizzly Falls Zipline is fun x 1 billion

Obviously, fun x 1 billion is a lot of fun, and quite possibly too much fun for ordinary people. But you are not ordinary. You want to have the most fun allowed by law, so you should definitely check out Grizzly Falls.

How did Grizzly Falls get its name? Well, it’s not because Grizzlies fall down a lot in this area. It’s because Grizzlies like to feed on salmon in sloughs that run along the nearby tidal flats. The waterfalls that run along the zipline course were named after these ursine giants, and you have to admit it’s a better name than Squirrel Falls or Seagull Falls.

Grizzly Falls has 11 ziplines. That’s right. This is really awesome because doing one zipline is kind of a letdown, but 1,000 would be way too many. Studies indicate that 11 ziplines is the perfect amount of ziplines for maximum fun. (fun x 1 billion to be exact). There are also 4 suspension bridges on the zipline course, and there is no extra charge to walk across them.

The Zipline course is totally off the hook

One of the things that makes Grizzly Falls Zipline so off the hook is that the course was built into the terrain. You will fly over the waterfall in multiple places, which is really cool whether you like waterfalls or are indifferent to their existence.

To start your tour, you and your fellow ziplining enthusiasts will travel up the mountain in a Unimog. Uni is the prefix for “one,” so this is the perfect name for a vehicle with a bunch of really big tires on it. Riding on a Unimog is fun x 10, so there is still a lot of fun left for you on the tour. Best of all, the Unimog prevents you from having to walk up the mountain, which is great because walking is not so fun and would subtract from the total fun quotient.

Once you’re securely fastened into your zipline harness, you will work your way down the course. When it comes to ziplining, gravity is the star of the show, and you’ll be thanking Isaac Newton a total of 11 times during the tour.

If you like spinning and flipping on the zipline, you’re in luck. Various achievements in zipline technology make it possible to enjoy a totally rad and/or gnar gnar experience. Your choice. However, if you’re a person who’s happy with a lower fun quotient, each zipline has a handbrake that gives you total control over speed. You can think of the handbrake as an anti-Isaac Newton device… sort of like outer space.
